Cadouin’s main attraction is its Abbey, for which it is justifiably famous and which is home to the Holy Shroud of Cadouin (now known to be a fake). It also has France’s largest collection of bicycles in the Musée de Vélocipède. The village also has basic shopping facilities, a post office and two restaurants.

The area has lots of prehistoric sites including cave paintings at Lascaux II at Montignac and Font-de-Gaume at Les Eyzies. Numerous chateaux are open to visitors and there are pretty bastide towns to visit such as Beaumont, Issegeac and Monpazier. There are also several good vineyards and wine caves with tours. It is possible to cruise the river in a "Gabare" (a traditional boat) and there are departure points at Beynac and Mauzac.

There are village markets most days of the week selling local fruit, vegetables, cheese and wine. Le Buisson de Cadouin (approx 8 kms away) has a market every Friday morning and essential shops like a supermarket, pharmacy , bank, post office, cinema, several bakeries, butchers, bars and restaurants. It also has a station, with trains to Sarlat, Bergerac and Bordeaux. Siorac (10 kms) has a large supermarket.

There are lots of restaurants in the area, nearly all serving traditional Perigordine dishes for which the region is renowned i.e. truffles, foie gras and confits. Villages take it in turn to have a night market once a week and Cadouin is no exception. Visitors mix with locals and buy freshly cooked regional food.
